Have fun reading -- Finally got the pic done for for catching my 1000th pageview Actually could've finished this way earlier, but oh wells (: Request of a picture of her and her OC, Rose Went through a couple of ideas before I went with this one, mostly cause I couldn't figure out how to draw the others properly XD Initial sketch only took about three hours, which means I get to moan about parts of the pic that I don't like cause I rushed through them in the sketching process. Oh wells, it means that I get to exercise my complainin' skills Eyes are wayyy too big, just don't fit in with Kei's character. Rose's hair came out looking ok, though I don't think I managed to make it look quite "slightly curled, more like a curve". Kei's hair managed to look quite awkward, doesnt flow as well as I would like it to. Eyes are also positioned strangely, though that might just be because I tried to draw everything on a slant. Spent about an hour or two cleaning up the scan, not much to say about that. Not going to scan in a sketch at 300 dpi ever again, though. About 4 hours was spent on the actual colouring, which consisted of slapping on flats and then brushing some shades on with a watercolourlike brush. The skin looked horrendous, I tell ya. Spent about 20 minutes OCDing on the hair shine, cause I was too lazy to actually colour the hair. Kei's eyes didn't come out looking forward like I wanted them to, but instead they're a bit off to the side. Decided that it didn't look TOO bad, and just left them (read: lazy) The entire background was pretty much experimenting with gradients and renders. It might just be the part I like best about this pic XD Slapped on some low saturation brown on top, played around a bit with blending options. The brown really made the pic look much better than it was, put some colour into it and made it warmer. Seeing as I was playing around and experimenting, it took a bit longer than it should've, taking up about one and a half hours. -- Adobe Photoshop, pencil and 8.5" x 11" paper ~ 8 and 1/2 hours
Lens flare is good addition; gives the impression of a photograph on a corkboard (brown contributes to that). On the other hand, [person on bottom]'s head and shoulders should be hunched a bit more to suggest the weight of [person on top]'s head.
(Excuse my ignorance of the Internet's vernacular) But what is an OC?

DeviantART has partnered with FAIR to help promote equality through The Love Unites Shepard Fairey Equality Project. We're asking deviants to align themselves with this cause and have their work judged by Shepard Fairey himself!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.
