Well, after more than a year, I've finally finished the first picture I scanned in and started after I got my tabby XD Man that took forever. -- Lineart done on Corel Painter. Took more than two months on and off for me to finish about one third to one half of the lineart. Dropped the picture for a while, started work on it again about a week ago. Remainder of the lineart took approximately two hours to finish. Lineart then moved onto Photoshop for colouring. Took about four days on and off to finish colouring the pic. Colouring job is considered "basic" since it didnt take me at least a week to finish XD I would have to say that the "skin" part is my fav, mostly cause it's all splotchy smooth at the same time, however that works. Tried out a bit of cross-hatching on the spearhead, dont ask me why, I think I was just bored at that point, and I suck at shading metal anyways. Still getting used to using low opacity brushes >.> *fumbles around* Mixed up a lot of different shading styles on this one just for the heck of it. -- Hard for me to say how long this one took in total. Sketch on paper, lineart on Corel Painter, colour on Photoshop.
Thanks ^^ I think the original design called for a sort of modified magical harpoon thing >.> Instead of throwing it, the head is launched, and can be magically pulled back afterwards, if possible (not lodged too deeply between someone's bones). Can also double as a magic channelling staff, end tip can do some damage, but not meant for anything other than a last resort. Anyways, I probably had more of the weapon specs done before, but my memory isnt the best and I never wrote them down. Can you tell I like designing fictional weaponry?
DeviantART has partnered with FAIR to help promote equality through The Love Unites Shepard Fairey Equality Project. We're asking deviants to align themselves with this cause and have their work judged by Shepard Fairey himself!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.
