Happeh b-day to Hope ya like, cause I'm prob gunna get my ass handed to me in the morning for staying up this late/early (depending on how you look at it) to finish it Wasn't totally sure what flamey thing to put so I went with the generic phoenix ^^ -- Pic comments: I swear faces and hands hate me >.< Left arm is way too long in proportion to the rest of the pic, positioning of the right hand took forever since all I had to work with was my own hand and it was very awkward to stand and draw in front of the mirror. Paper texture from scanning was luff cept for the face, there was a bit too much and it sorta killed the skin colour. Absolutely love the way the hair turned out, shiiiiiinyyyyy <3 Shirt came out ok, was easier to draw the folds in front of the mirror than the hand anyways. Flamey stuff was fun to do, and didnt take as long as I thought it would. Was done on three layers, first one orange, second red and third an orangey yellow. All the layers were fx'd with outer glow and set to 85% opacity. Red layer was erased a bit and then smudged, yellow layer was erased even more to let through the red and orange layers and smudged again. Background is another cheap gradient cause by the time I got to the background I was getting too tired to do an actual one. Background was originally going to be all flamey, fading to black, but as I said earlier, I never got to it. The bottom was supposed to be cut off so it doesnt look like the person has no legs >.> But as you can prob tell I didnt do it, mostly because it looked oogly when I trimmed it. The little black dotty things are ashes, I swear >.> (in actuality, they're bits of eraser that I didnt completely brush off before scanning) Quote doesnt really connect that well with the actual pic, so I pretty much made it harder to see and read (not to mention my handwriting sucks anyways) Writing was smudged upwards after saving the transparency so it would turn white at the bottom. Most of the shading was done on paper with pencil, but I did end up adding a bit of shading on the comp when the lighter shades didnt scan in all the way. Outlined the eyes and eyebrows in black because they looked better when outlined Edited the pic a tiny bit later on because the left arm had a bit of colour sticking out that shouldnt have been there. Anyways, that should be about it for the pic rant Bai now. -- P.S. Sorry if this spams. -- Drawn on paper, scanned and coloured with Photoshop. 5-6 hours colouring, three days on and off on sketch. hehhee, nuu~ it looks good ( : nice detail... well i've got a sharp eye and you've got a strong talent for making drawings actually look like people x'D
I has ref pics (: *huggles* It was hell though to draw the hands since I couldnt find any hands in that pose so I had to do it the old fashioned way: me and the mirror. So pretty much almost all of my pics will have a bit of meh in them cause I use myself as the main ref. *shrugs* Doesnt help much when I'm trying to do guys though XD Fweeeee, girly guys
DeviantART has partnered with FAIR to help promote equality through The Love Unites Shepard Fairey Equality Project. We're asking deviants to align themselves with this cause and have their work judged by Shepard Fairey himself!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.
